the Lenham Pottery Models one-eighth scale Vanner. The Vanner was a small horse, of heavier build than the cob, for centuries used extensively all over the country as a packhorse. It is a plain work-horse, with a little bit of hair around the fetlocks and white socks - which shows its cart-horse origins. It is the ideal horse for tradesman's light delivery vans, other light four-wheeled vehicles, and farmers' market floats. The harness for these vehicles would be the light shaft harness, which has a leather 'cab' pad to support the shafts. For the smaller farm carts or the Ledge Waggon, use the heavy shaft harness, which has a wooden cart saddle to support the weight of the shafts and any load carried on the shafts. The model is coloured to order in all normal horse colours, in gloss or satin finish. The photo shows a piebald (white with extensive patches of black). It stands 7.5 inches to the withers. Allow 3 inches between shafts.
