This page features two (out of dozens) of books I have found useful:

Cover of Animal Anatomy book.

It contains, The Horse, The Dog, The Lion, The Cow and Bull, The Stage, Roe, Goat. In the appendix are drawings by Stubbs (see below), The Cat from Straus-Durckheim, The Monkey, The Seal, The Hare, The Rat Kangaroo, The Flying Squirrel, and The Bat, all from Cuvier

George Stubbs' horse anatomy. The Tate Gallery, in London, put on an exhibition devoted to the works of George Stubbs, 17 October, 1984 - 6 January, 1985. It then moved to the Yale Center for British Art, 13 February - 7 April, 1985. It was sponsored by United Technologies Corporation. The sumptuous exhibition catalogue contains more than just illustrations of the 190 pictures, prints and drawings that were on show. There are learned articles, a bibliography and his life story. ISBN 0-946590-11-7 (paperback) or ISBN 0-946590-12-5 hardback.
