The
Modelling Compound.
 |
The
material I chose for modelling the Shire Horse was Plastilene, "Le
Beau Touché" it is made by Chavant, and supplied by Alec
Tiranti Ltd. This material was chosen in preference to clay because
it does not dry out. On such a large model, the clay on the legs would
shrink and cracks appear. Plastilene needs to be warmed in the hands
to stick to that already on the model. I was modelling during a particularly
hot summer and the plastilene stuck more to my hands than the model.
It is dissolved by white spirit, and made even softer if necessary
with petroleum grease. |
