This
page features the Goat models
and (for want of a better place to put him,) the Red Deer Stag.
 |
 |
| This
is my own reference copy of the group, mounted on an oval plinth
coloured green to imitate grass. It was intended to be a limited
edition. This is No. 3 of 50, made in 1983. Current price would
be £250.00, [$771.00]. |
With
the goat models, the ears were cast and attached separately. This
was so I could produce the Anglo-Swiss type as well as the drop
eared Nubian. |

The
Red Deer Stag.
This was a speculative venture. In part it was
an attempt to see how far we could push the modelling, casting,
fettling and firing of something this difficult. Most china models
would have had the stag standing against a hedge so that the animal
would be supported by other modelling. We found out the hard way
that this particular model turned out to be unreasonably expensive
for the shows we attended which were, at that time, county agricultural
shows and county fairs. We did not keep a reference copy so I
have no idea how big the model was. I think it was about six inches
to the top of the head, about eight inches to the top prong.
